Spices & Herbs
Hello Cooks! I dedicate this page to all cooking beginners and amateurs who have just got acquaintaned with cooking. When I was a beginner myself, I had to make sure that I know the names of spices and herbs mentioned in the various recipes. It makes grocery shopping and cooking much more easier. So if any of you need some reference to the recipes in this blog, you can always hop on this page for a better picture!
As much as I can, I will gradually update and add to the collection of spices and herbs list on this page including their names in English and Malay. So in the meantime, I hope what is available here is of help.

Carom seeds is called Biji Karom in Malay but it is more commonly used in Indian cooking therefore most Malays would not know it. Ypu should be able to buy it from most Indian grocery stores. It is known as Ajwain in Hindi or Oomam.in Tamil. Hope this helps.
